Senate Race A Toss-Up, With Narrow GOP Leads in Other Races

A new survey from Texas Southern University's Barbara Jordan Public Policy Research and Survey Center finds Democrat James Talarico narrowly leading Republican Ken Paxton in the U.S. Senate race, 47% to 45%, while Republican Governor Greg Abbott holds a steadier 6-point lead over Democrat Gina Hinojosa. Down-ballot, Republican candidates lead across the Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Comptroller, Land Commissioner, and Railroad Commissioner races — but by narrower margins, with double-digit shares of voters still undecided. Notably, most down-ballot candidates remain largely unknown to the electorate, with as many as 8 in 10 voters saying they don't know enough about certain candidates to form an opinion.
